Google to Take on Microsoft
Google is to introduce a new operating system to challenge the dominance of Microsoft. The new software, Google Chrome OS, is designed to significantly speed up the process of surfing the internet. Google believe the software brings us closer to being able to keep all our important files, such as photographs, online instead of on a home PC. These files would be kept on a ‘cloud’ on the internet. Cloud computing allows the user to keep all information online and access it from any computer anywhere in the world. The aim for Google is to install the new system initially on netbooks and then eventually on bigger PCs. Cloud computing will shift the focus from large desktop PCs to smaller slimline computers that access the internet as quickly as possible.
